This village is very close to Nice by car, but I think it's quite difficult to reach by public transport. The parking area is pretty limited, so it might take quite some time on a nice, sunny day to find a spot. You might have to wait for around 15-30 minutes, depending on your luck. Italy - Rome part 2

Exploring Rome in 1 day definitely not enough. Well, it depends on your stamina, and how tired you are willing to be at the end of the trip.
