I went to a department store called TOBU for a cooking class that I signed up for. I went there a little too early because I was scared of getting lost in Ikebukuro station again (it's huge; it takes about 15-20 minutes from one end of the station to the other).
Normally at the basement floors of huge department like TOBU, Takashimaya and SEIBU, a wide variety of foods are sold. Raw food, cooked food, cakes, Japanese sweets, senbei (rice crackers), fruits, salad... you can say almost everything is there. And they're exceptionally high-grade.
In terms of price... they are expensive, but I think if you're a good taster you will feel the difference. Well, at least from their appearance, you know that a lot of energy, time and effort are being spent on those goods. If you compare it to the "normal" price (i.e. if you don't buy them at department stores), I would say that the prices of these stuffs at department stores is about 1.2 - 1.5 times higher than the normal prices. Although there are some exceptions (like 3 or 4 times higher than the normal prices)
